Unique itineraries with intimate cultural experiences in small groups
Riki's Tours Japan is a travel agent and tour operator that constructs, arranges, and escorts tours independently from beginning to end. The tours provide unique, and intimate experiences tailored for small groups of no more than ten travellers. His tours take you to great sites of natural, historical and social interest, sharing cross cultural experiences in a happy, safe and caring atmosphere.
Enjoying good food that only a local expert knows how to find
Riki's Tours Japan has a passion for simple and healthy seasonal Japanese food. We take you to our favourite places to eat across the country. As you travel through different regions of Japan, you will have the chance to try specialties that the local people enjoy. This can range from simple delights like a hearty bowl of local ramen sold adjacent to a train station to a kaiseki dinner at a ryokan.
Rejuvenating day-walks through places of natural beauty
Many of our tours include rejuvenating day-walks through stunning natural environments. The City Lights & Alpine Trails tour will take you from Kyoto up to a remote valley on the roof of Japan, and on to the highest peak of Hokkaido, Kamui Mintara. The Spirit of Japan tour takes you on two ancient pilgrimage routes, the Kumano Kodo on the Kii Peninsula and the Nakasendo through the central highlands. All walks are suitable for most travellers, and only require a good pair of walking shoes. They are also designed so that you can easily shorten or skip them should you wish.
Staying in the best locations and experiencing a Ryokan or an Onsen Hotel.
All accommodation are 3 to 4 star rated, and have been carefully chosen to give you a pleasant stay in the best locations without inflating the cost of your tour unnecessarily. Hotels, Ryokan (Japanese style hotels) and Minshuku (local inns) are specially selected to give you great access to transport hubs, as well as shopping, restaurant and sightseeing experiences. All tours include a stay in at least one Ryokan or an Onsen Hotel (with a hot spring bath) so you can experience a holiday as the Japanese do.
