Travel to Tokyo by Tue 22 Oct 2024
Arrive at Narita or Haneda by own arrangement with transfers provided into Tokyo.

Tokyo BD
Join Riki for a walk around the old downtown area of Tokyo, including Kappabashi (Kitchen town) and Asakusa. In the evening, group together for our welcome dinner at a local Izakaya (nice Japanese style pub).

Tokyo To Furofushi Onsen BD
In the morning, we'll board the Hayabusa Shinkansen for the journey to the far north of Japan. Our accommodation tonight has fabulous views of the sea from the onsen.

Furofushi Onsen BD
Today, we'll charter a bus for the journey though the World Heritage area of Shirakami Sanchi. There'll be time for a short walk through the beech forests including the Juniko Pond walk.

Furofushi Onsen to Hirosaki BD
After breakfast, we'll head off over mountains to Hirosaki, where you can explore the 17th century castle and its beautiful grounds. Later, we'll have dinner together in a local restaurant.

Hirosaki B
In the morning, we'll visit Haneda-san's apple farm, where you can participate in the harvest. You'll be free in the afternoon to explore as you wish.

Hirosaki to Yuze BD
Today, we'll head for Yuze by trains where we can enjoy a short walk along river and onsen in this valley.

Yuze to Oirase Gorge BD
Today, we will head up over the Hakkoda Mountains into Oirase Gorge. We will walk up the gorge from Ishigedo to Nenokuchi. It's a gentle walk along the floor of the gorge with the burbling river cascading by. When we reach Lake Towada, we will take a cruise before heading back to our hotel by bus.

Oirase Gorge to Tokyo B
Today, will be a fairly long travel day back to Tokyo, but the journey is quite beautiful, especially the first section out of the gorge.

Tokyo to home on Thu 31 Oct 2024 B
Enjoy the last of Tokyo, or extend your stay to travel on elsewhere. Transfers are provided to the nearest international airport for your flight home.
